Gabe Rang – 1st Maxton Soviak Courage Award Winner

“As we sat down, as a staff, to determine who would be named the first Maxton Soviak Courage Award winner, we began by sharing stories and memories of the type of player Max was during his high school days. The conclusion we came to was that Max played the game with a toughness and passion that was evident to all who watched. He was selfless, he loved the individual and team competition inherent to the game, and understood how winning small individual battles would lead to team victories. Finally, he was simply relentless in his pursuit of victory, he understood that to earn his way he had to compete for it everyday.

The adjectives we used to describe Max are very much what we saw in Gabe. He has a tremendous drive and plays with passion and enthusiasm at all times, whether it be a Wednesday practice or a Friday night game. Gabe only knew one way to play and that was full tilt all the time. He played with the same passion and toughness that reminded us of Max. Gabe is a humble and kind young man off the field but a relentless competitor on the field. He was the obvious choice to receive this award.” – Head Coach Jim Hall
